OT Month Featured on the TODAY Plaza

In a bold and energetic celebration of Occupational Therapy Month, NBCOT and its Why Choose OT campaign took to the TODAY Plaza to shine a national spotlight on the occupational therapy profession. Joined by students and faculty from Hofstra University and New York Institute of Technology, the group brought signs, spirit, and a powerful message to the morning broadcast: occupational therapy changes lives.

The moment went from exciting to unforgettable when TODAY Show host Al Roker stepped outside to greet the crowd and acknowledged the group’s presence! Not only did he recognize that it was Occupational Therapy Month, he also shared a heartfelt personal connection, noting that OT has had a positive impact on his family.

The plaza event captured national attention and brought well-deserved visibility to the OT profession. It was a proud and joyful moment to elevate the voices of students and practitioners, and to celebrate the powerful, life-changing work that occupational therapy professionals do every day.

This moment on the TODAY Show was a meaningful milestone in our mission to raise awareness about the power of occupational therapy—and we are just getting started.

We are already looking ahead to 2026 and cannot wait to make an even bigger impact next OT Month!

In the meantime, you can help spread the word:

Together, we WILL make occupational therapy a household name.
